The Christ Hospital Health Network is putting $16 million into a new outpatient center in Union that will bring primary care, cardiology, women's health, and lab services closer to Boone County residents who currently cross the river for specialty care.

The Cincinnati-based health system held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, at the site near the corner of U.S. Highway 42 and Mt. Zion Road. The two-story, 32,000-square-foot medical office building is expected to open in fall 2027.

Union Mayor Larry Solomon joined Debbie Hayes, president and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network, and Raj Govindaiah, MD, president of The Christ Hospital Physicians, at the ceremony, according to a Christ Hospital press release.

The facility will also house diagnostic services and create jobs for physicians, nurses, and support staff, though the health system has not disclosed a specific headcount.

Jennifer Meyer, APRN, is one provider already named to the Union location. She was highlighted in a Christ Hospital social media post for her work building relationships with patients in the network.

Part of a broader Northern Kentucky push

The Union center is not the only Christ Hospital project headed to this side of the river. Earlier in 2026, the network announced a $49 million medical office building in Cold Spring as a joint venture with Cincinnati Children's Hospital, with completion expected by 2028.

Christ Hospital currently operates an acute care hospital in Mt. Auburn, a remote hospital location in Liberty Township, five ambulatory outpatient centers, and dozens of medical offices across the region. The network employs more than 7,800 team members and 1,300 physicians.

The NKY Chamber of Commerce amplified the groundbreaking news on Wednesday, July 29, congratulating the health system on the investment.

The health system describes Union as one of Northern Kentucky's fastest-growing communities. Construction is underway, and Local 12 reported the project will expand medical access on the Kentucky side of the river, with doors opening in fall 2027.
