Ryle put six goals past Bishop Brossart on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and six different Raiders found the net in a 6-0 rout at CR Borland Stadium, as reported by LINK nky.

The win in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) state boys soccer first round pushes Ryle (23-3-1) into a home quarterfinal against Johnson Central on Saturday, Oct. 31. Johnson Central, the 15th Region champion, beat 16th Region winner East Carter 1-0 to earn the trip.

The Raiders broke the game open with three goals in two minutes. Damien Lakis scored on Cooper Neace's corner kick in the 20th minute. Neace scored off a Maddox Rollins feed in the 21st. Danny Harding tapped in Grant McCoy's pass in the 22nd.

Harding wasn't even certain he'd play. He suffered a bone bruise the week before, skipped Monday's practice and called it a game-time decision.

"I was honestly 50-50 … I took a lot of Tylenol and played through it," Harding said.

Ryle added three more after halftime. Chase McCarthy scored unassisted in the 46th minute. McCoy converted a penalty kick in the 48th. David Savicki finished off a Daniel Lopez pass in the 75th.

Four Raiders recorded assists: Neace, Rollins, McCoy and Lopez. Ryle outshot Brossart 19-6, putting 10 shots on target to the Mustangs' two.

Ryle head coach Stephen Collins praised the balanced scoring and involvement across the roster. The Raiders don't rely on a single scorer. Preston Scott, Neace, McCarthy and Harding each have at least 10 goals on the season.

Brossart (12-11-2) won its second straight 10th Region title but could not keep pace. Mustangs coach Donny Bray moved leading scorer Luke Neltner to a defensive center midfielder role, saying Neltner wins balls in the air and brings a bigger body than his usual center midfielders. Collins said the move didn't change Ryle's approach of going outside wide and using speed around the corner.

McCoy twice split Brossart defenders early and went one-on-one with goalkeeper Ryan Eldridge, who stopped both chances. Collins said those early runs opened up more shots on goal later in the half.

Collins said he doesn't know much about Johnson Central heading into Saturday's quarterfinal and plans to study film on the Golden Eagles before the match. The KHSAA bracket lists Johnson Central at Ryle on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m.

Ryle hosts Johnson Central at CR Borland Stadium on Oct. 31.
