United Airlines' first daily nonstop flight from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to San Francisco took off Monday, Oct. 26, opening a direct link between Boone County and one of the country's biggest tech and business hubs.

The route operates seven days a week, with morning departures from CVG in Hebron and afternoon return flights from San Francisco, WLWT reported.

CVG officials project the new service will generate an estimated $36.5 million in annual economic impact for the Greater Cincinnati region.

"San Francisco is an important business, technology and tourism destination, and this new service gives travelers more options while strengthening our region's connections to opportunities across the country and around the world," Larry Krauter, CEO of CVG Airport, said.

United also held a corporate forum with about 100 travel managers to emphasize the benefits of the new route, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported.

For Boone County residents and businesses, the service adds a daily nonstop option for travel to the Bay Area and connections through United’s San Francisco hub.
