A head-on collision on Houston Road killed a 75-year-old Florence woman around 12:32 a.m. Sept. 13.

Mayra Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection with Marydale Road, the Florence Police Department said in a news release reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Ruiz was traveling southbound on Houston Road when her vehicle collided head-on with a northbound vehicle, according to police. The cause of the collision has not been determined.

The other driver was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries police described as not life-threatening. That driver's name and age have not been released.

The department's Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating. This is the second fatal crash Florence police have investigated in September, following a Monday, Sept. 7, motorcycle crash on Burlington Pike that killed Troy Cherry, 52, of Union.
