Hank Zeisler broke the Florence Y'alls' single-season run record Aug. 22, scoring his 84th run of 2026 on a solo home run that tied the nightcap against Evansville at 4-4 in the eighth inning.

The blast was Zeisler's 23rd homer of the year, a new career high for the team captain. It wasn't enough. The Otters scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to steal an 8-5 win at Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana.

Florence did take the first game of the doubleheader 3-0, with Zeisler going 3-for-3 and launching a solo shot in that contest, according to the team's post on X.

Nightcap collapse

The Y'alls built a 3-0 lead through five innings in the second game. Zach Beadle cracked a two-run homer in the third, and Zeisler added his first solo blast of the night in the fifth. Starter John Girard was sharp early, retiring the Otters in order over his first three innings with four strikeouts.

Evansville answered in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back home runs from T.J. Salvaggio (three-run, his 15th) and Amani Jones (solo, his sixth) to take a 4-3 lead.

Zeisler's record-setting eighth-inning homer knotted it at four, and Dillon Baker followed with an RBI single to push Florence ahead 5-4. But Evansville's four-run bottom of the eighth, capped by LG Castillo's go-ahead single and a two-RBI single from Salvaggio, sealed the loss.

The Y'alls posted on X after the record fell: "This run also breaks our Single-Season Run Record with Zeisler's 84th of the year!"

Record-breaking season

The run record is the latest franchise mark to fall for Zeisler this summer. The Kentfield, California native and three-time All-Star also holds Florence's all-time home run record (surpassed during the week of July 28), the all-time RBI record (set June 17 in Schaumburg) and became the franchise's all-time doubles leader on Aug. 20.

Florence sits at 50-38 on the season, 4.5 games behind Evansville (55-34) for the first Wild Card spot in the Frontier League.
