Zade Richardson's grand slam powered the Florence Y'alls to an 8-6 win over the Lake Erie Crushers on Aug. 26.

The bases-loaded blast put Florence ahead 7-5 and snapped a five-game losing streak at Thomas More Stadium. Team captain Hank Zeisler added his 24th homer of the season for insurance, pushing the lead to 8-6.

Reliever Barraza earned his first save with the Y'alls, the team announced on X. The win dropped Florence's playoff magic number to 8.

As of Aug. 28, the Frontier League confirmed that the number held at 8 while other teams saw their magic numbers drop. The Ottawa Titans and Evansville Otters each sit at 3, and the New York Boulders and New Jersey Jackals are at 4. The Schaumburg Boomers trail Florence at 9.

The game was part of a doubleheader against the Crushers, with the matinee starting at 4:30 p.m.

Richardson, a 2019 New Richmond, Ohio, graduate, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 22nd round of the 2019 MLB Draft before eventually landing in Florence. In an Aug. 5 feature on the team's website, he described what the club means to him: "That's the thing about being here, I can be my own person, be the player that I need to be and be able to help everybody else in a relaxed environment."

Wednesday's grand slam showed that comfort translating to production when it mattered most.

Zeisler, a Kentfield, California, native, broke the franchise's all-time home run record in late July. He finished a seven-game homestand with 52 career homers, surpassing the previous mark of 46, and earned Frontier League Player of the Week honors for July 28 through Aug. 2.

The Y'alls entered the All-Star break at 28-28 but surged to 45-30 after an 11-game winning streak earlier in August. The five-game skid that followed made Wednesday's result critical with the Wild Card Round approaching.

Florence's magic number sits at 8 with the final stretch of the regular season underway.
