A Publix grocery store is coming to Florence, and the chain is looking to fill 280 positions across two new Northern Kentucky locations with in-person events.
The 55,325-square-foot store at Farmview Commons, 8740 U.S. Highway 42, will be Publix's third location in Northern Kentucky. It will include a drive-thru pharmacy and an adjacent Publix Liquors selling beer, wine and spirits, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
The 280 jobs cover both the Florence store and a fourth NKY Publix planned for Independence at 5135 Jenkins Drive.
Hiring events
In-person hiring runs Friday through Sunday, Aug. 14–16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport, 7373 Turfway Road, Florence. Applicants can also apply online at storejobapplication.publix.com before the event.
Opening timeline
Publix has not announced an official opening date for the Florence store. Based on the seven-to-eleven-week gap between hiring events and openings at the chain's first two NKY stores, the Enquirer estimated a mid-October target.
How the project got here
Florence City Council approved the Farmview Commons development on Jan. 30, 2024, voting 4-1 on Ordinance O-2-2024 to allow the grocery store, attached liquor store and drive-through pharmacy on an 11.82-acre site at the northeast corner of U.S. 42 and Farmview Drive. Christopher Taft of Crosland Southeast represented developer Farmview Commons LLC at the hearing.
The development straddles the Florence-Union city line. One out lot falls within Union's limits, and the developer agreed to reimburse the City of Union $20,000 for repaving and striping Farmview Drive after construction wraps. A Bank of America branch is also going up at 8748 U.S. 42 as part of the same development; Florence City Council unanimously approved signage modifications for that out lot in October 2025.
Applicants who cannot attend the hiring events in person can submit applications at storejobapplication.publix.com.
