Northern Kentucky Young Professionals is pairing area residents with nonprofits that have open board seats at its 8th annual Bourbon & Boards event on August 13, at Wenzel Distillery in Covington.
The mixer runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at 412 Madison Ave. Nonprofits with governance openings will staff tables and talk with attendees about what serving on a board actually involves.
Who's speaking
James Sherry, CEO of Holly Hill Child & Family Solutions, and Nick Wade, community campaign manager with Arts Wave, will lead a discussion on board service. Heather Hale of The Huntington National Bank will moderate.
According to the NKY Chamber's event page, the evening is built around connecting young professionals with nonprofit governance roles and helping attendees understand the time commitment, expectations, and professional benefits of board membership.
Eight years running
NKYP has hosted Bourbon & Boards annually since 2019. The event pairs a professional development conversation with bourbon samples from regional distillers.
NKYP operates under the NKY Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 1,700 member companies across Northern Kentucky. The program focuses on talent attraction and retention in the region, and its 2026 community partner is Ion Center, which supports individuals and families fleeing intimate partner violence.
