St. Elizabeth Healthcare, which operates six hospitals including a Florence campus, received the Northern Kentucky Community Award from the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber presented the award at its August Board of Directors meeting, according to a chamber press release. The award goes to individuals, businesses or organizations that make a significant positive impact on the Northern Kentucky Metro region.
The chamber cited St. Elizabeth's mobile cardiovascular and mammography units and its educational classes and events across the region.
Brent Cooper, president and CEO of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, called St. Elizabeth "a genuine community partner" in a statement. He said the community is touched by St. Elizabeth every day and that the chamber was honored to present the award to the hospital system and all who work there.
St. Elizabeth operates hospitals in Florence, Edgewood, Covington, Fort Thomas, Dearborn County and Grant County. The system also runs more than 160 primary care and specialty offices across the Tristate.
The award caps a strong month. Earlier in August, U.S. News & World Report named St. Elizabeth's Edgewood campus the top hospital in both Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati in its 2026–2027 Best Hospitals rankings. It was the second straight year the Edgewood campus earned Kentucky's top spot. The ranking ended Christ Hospital's 11-year run as Greater Cincinnati's No. 1, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported.
St. Elizabeth Edgewood earned high-performing marks in 21 of 23 evaluated categories and ranked No. 48 nationally, according to The Lane Report.
Garren Colvin, president and CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, has led the system for 11 years. He started at St. Elizabeth 43 years ago as a college student, WLWT reported.
When the U.S. News rankings were released Aug. 5, Colvin told WLWT, "That just validates that people don't have to travel, they get great health care, and we take that to our heart."
