KOI Superior Walls opened the doors to its new 44,000-square-foot headquarters on Limaburg Road in Burlington on Aug. 13, marking the completion of a $2.4 million manufacturing facility that the company says will create 73 full-time jobs over the next decade.
The NKY Chamber of Commerce congratulated the company on the grand opening, posting photos from the ceremony.
The facility at 5719 Limaburg Road sits on 14 acres and includes roughly 38,000 square feet of production space and 6,000 square feet of offices. KOI Superior Walls manufactures precast concrete foundation wall panels for residential construction. The prefabricated panels are built in the factory, trucked to job sites and set by crane, cutting foundation installation time from seven to 10 days down to about two.
KOI Superior Walls President Ross Votel first pitched the project to Boone County officials six years ago, according to Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore, as reported by LINK nky. The company announced the project in April 2024 and broke ground that August.
"Our new facility will allow us to combine our decades of precast concrete manufacturing experience with this revolutionary system to grow into the future," Votel said at the facility's July 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony, which Gov. Andy Beshear attended.
KOI Superior Walls is the sister company of KOI Precast Concrete, which has operated across the street since 1987. The new venture currently employs 20 workers and serves customers in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. The 73 planned hires will span manufacturing, installation, sales, design, administrative and management roles.
State Rep. T.J. Roberts, a Burlington Republican, praised the project at the July 29 ribbon-cutting as locally driven economic development. Sam Flynn, a Boone County native and special advisor to Beshear, told the same ceremony that faster foundation timelines are "a game changer for the housing industry in Northern Kentucky."
Tax credit pending
The Boone County Fiscal Court introduced an ordinance on Aug. 11, that would grant KOI Superior Walls an occupational license fee credit for new employees under the Kentucky Business Investment Program, according to a post by Commissioner Chet Hand. No vote was taken at the first reading. The full text of the ordinance, including the credit's duration, has not been publicly released. The second reading is expected at the Fiscal Court's Aug. 27 meeting.
