Local artisan vendors and classic car owners will fill Bell Park and the Historic Main Street Fire Station on Saturday, August 1, when the City of Florence hosts its annual Crafts & Classics Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Admission is free.

The city announced the event on its official social media channels, noting that parking will be available at Florence Christian Church. Viox & Viox, a Florence-based civil engineering firm, is the title sponsor. Residents with questions can call the Administration Department at 859-647-8177.

The festival caps a week packed with ways for Boone County neighbors to pitch in and show up.

Back to School Supply Drive wraps up July 31

The City of Florence and the Boone County Kiwanis Club are collecting new school supplies for Boone County High School students through Friday, July 31. Donations can be dropped off at the Florence Government Center Lobby, 8100 Ewing Blvd.

Most-needed items include headphones for ESL students, composition books, plastic folders, binders, notebooks, pens, and pencils, according to the city's announcement.

GO Pantry food drive pickup is August 1

Residents of the Hempsteade and Hampshire neighborhoods in Union can pick up green bags and shopping lists on Saturday, July 25, then leave filled bags at their doors for pickup on Saturday, August 1. The drive supports GO Pantry's weekend food bags for children facing food insecurity.

National Night Out on August 4

The City of Florence hosts National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Florence Government Center. The free event features police, fire, and EMS equipment displays along with vendors and food, according to the city's announcement on June 22.

Residents who want to register a neighborhood block party for the evening can call 859-647-8177. The registration deadline was Friday, July 24.
