The City of Florence is looking for a contractor to renovate the driving range and install new lighting at its World of Golf complex on Woodspoint Drive, a project that will bring night golf to the city-owned facility.
The city published an invitation to bid in the Boone County Recorder on July 16, 2026, for the Florence World of Golf Driving Range and Lighting Renovations at 7400 Woodspoint Drive. Cincinnati-based architecture firm KZF Design prepared the project specifications.
A pre-bid meeting is set for July 23, at 10 a.m. at the project site. Sealed bids are due by July 30, at 10 a.m. at the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Blvd. The bid opening will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Night golf drove the plan
The renovation has been in the works for more than a year. At the February 25, 2025, Florence City Council meeting, operator Ralph Landrum of Landrum Golf presented plans for new range netting and lighting, estimating the net replacement alone at $250,000 to $300,000. According to council meeting minutes, Landrum said installing lighting alongside the netting would avoid future damage and that the lighting investment would pay for itself within two years through night golf revenue.
City Administrator Joshua J. Hunt referenced the "upcoming lighting upgrades for night golf" at the December 9, 2025, council meeting as one of several recent capital investments at the facility, alongside a new net and new golf carts.
New management, same capital plan
The lighting project moves forward under new management. Florence City Council voted 3-2 on December 16, 2025, to award a management contract to Troon Golf, LLC. The facility is now operated by Indigo Sports, a Troon subsidiary, according to the World of Golf website.
Finance Director Jason Lewis told council members at the December 9, 2025, meeting that the World of Golf generated a $100,000 profit in fiscal year 2025, even after accounting for depreciation. The city's proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget shows the World of Golf Fund with estimated revenues and transfers of $3,256,293 and total golf course appropriations of $3,252,205.

The city intends to award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, according to the invitation. Contractors interested in competing can attend the pre-bid meeting July 23, at 10 a.m. at 7400 Woodspoint Drive.
