A Florence woman was airlifted to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries on the evening of Aug. 9, after a truck driver towing a boat struck her while trying to pass on Limaburg Road in Burlington.
Jessica E. Valentin Cruz, 41, was cycling southbound in the 5400 block of Limaburg Road just before 6 p.m. when Gregory Lefevre, 54, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, attempted to pass her in a 2026 GMC Sierra that was towing a boat, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, citing the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Lefevre misjudged the clearance and collided with Valentin Cruz, investigators said.
A second cyclist was riding with Valentin Cruz at the time but was not struck or injured. He was not identified.
Valentin Cruz was airlifted from the scene. Her condition had not been updated as of Aug. 10.
Investigation ongoing
The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. No charges had been filed against Lefevre as of Monday, and the sheriff's office released no information about potential charges.
The crash is the latest serious incident investigated by the unit this summer. A Williamstown man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Dixie Highway in Walton on July 26.
