Florence's Code Enforcement Board has 92 cases on its docket for a Sept. 2 hearing at the Florence Government Center.

The agenda includes 22 occupational license violations, five contested cases, five parking cases, one fire prevention case and 48 citations where no response was filed. Seven paid or resolved cases and four continued cases round out the docket.

Florence Mall Realty LLC, listed at 2028-2164 Mall Circle Road, faces three separate property-maintenance citations in the no-response section. The mall had a prior citation dismissed in February after Jake Netzel, the mall's general manager, appeared before the board and the property was brought into compliance. That earlier case involved an unsafe drainage pipe missing a valve cover, according to Feb. 4 board minutes.

The code pressure comes as the mall sits roughly 60% vacant. Mayor Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon said in a June interview with LINK nky that five different ownership groups must unanimously agree on changes, calling that structure a roadblock to redevelopment.

Several mall-area tenants also appear on the occupational license docket, including Staples, Rapid Fire Pizza, Piada Italian Street Food, Cardboard Heros, Bargain Bins and Bubble House. Citation numbers for Staples, Piada and Jimmy John's carry 2022 prefixes, suggesting those cases have been open for years.

Chester Dix Florence Corp., which operates as Remke Market at 6920 Burlington Pike, faces six citations in the no-response section covering zoning, nuisance and property-maintenance violations. Target Corporation at 1090-1100 Hansel Avenue has one zoning citation in the same section.

Among the five contested cases, the Florence Lions Club at 29 Lions Lane faces a zoning citation issued by Code Enforcement Officer Jeremiah Rice. Matthew Carlson is listed as the contesting party. The club also has a second zoning citation in the no-response section.

One residential property stands out.

Talyah Button at 2684 Ridgecrest Drive faces eight separate citations spanning nuisance, zoning and property-maintenance violations, all in the no-response section.

Four cases have been continued, including one against Eighteen Limited at 7415 Burlington Pike that has been on the docket since at least Jan. 7. Attorney Dennis Helmer represents that property owner.

The board met at 10 a.m. in the council chamber at 8100 Ewing Blvd. as of its Feb. 4 session. The next hearing after the Sept. 2 session is scheduled for Oct. 7.
