The City of Florence is accepting proposals from professional artists and artist-led teams to design, fabricate, and install a permanent sculpture at Florence Nature Park, 7200 Nature Park Drive.
The city announced the request for proposals on July 13, and made the RFP available starting July 16. Mayor Julie Aubuchon said in a news release that the project reflects the city's investment in public spaces.
"We are excited to welcome artists who can bring a unique vision to Florence Nature Park and create a lasting destination for residents and visitors to enjoy," Aubuchon said.
The selected sculpture will be placed at one of the locations identified in the Florence Nature Park Sculpture Art Master Plan, adopted by the city. The plan's full text has not been made public, and the city has not disclosed a budget for the commission.
Who can apply
Artists from across the country may submit, but the city is strongly encouraging proposals from those in the Greater Cincinnati region. Preference will go to designs that showcase a connection to the Florence community and highlight the park's natural character.
Applicants must submit a conceptual design, fabrication plan, installation methodology, and project budget.
Cincinnati-based ArtsWave will help administer the RFP process, communicate with applicants, and participate in evaluating submissions.
