The Cincinnati Open is drawing more than 200,000 fans from all 50 states and over 40 countries to the region, and CVG in Hebron is bracing for the international arrivals.
The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has prepared for a wave of visitors attending the tournament at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, according to the NKY Tribune. Qualifying matches have been underway since Aug. 11, with main-draw play now in full swing.
The visitor surge lands during a banner stretch for the Hebron airport.
Amazon Air's $1.5 billion superhub celebrated its fifth anniversary Aug. 6, having created more than 4,000 jobs and processed over 1.5 billion packages. Mike Berg, Amazon's director of operations at CVG, called the facility "the crown jewel of Amazon Air" and "the most prominent, largest operation we have in the entire world, located right here in Northern Kentucky" at the anniversary celebration.
United Airlines also announced nonstop CVG-to-San Francisco service starting Oct. 25, a route expected to generate $36.4 million in regional economic impact. San Francisco will be United's sixth nonstop destination from CVG, joining Chicago, Houston, Denver, Washington and Newark.
The airport's growth is rippling into the surrounding corridor. A development firm proposed a $100 million mixed-use project near CVG on Aug. 9 that includes two hotels, an office building and a restaurant on 14.6 acres near Houston Road and Donaldson Road in Boone County. The project would add lodging capacity just as events like the Cincinnati Open push demand.
CVG's broader economic footprint remains substantial. As of figures presented to Florence City Council in April 2025, the airport employs approximately 16,000 badged workers and supports about 55,000 jobs across the region, generating a $10.5 billion economic impact. Roughly 1,340 of those airport workers are Florence residents.
The airport also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinclair Community College on Aug. 12 to develop and test drone and advanced air mobility technologies.
The Cincinnati Open runs through Aug. 23. Players voted it the best tournament site for 2025, and CVG now offers direct transatlantic flights to London and Paris to serve the international demand.
