Caleb Dabbs of Union will head to Northern Kentucky University in fall 2026 with a $2,000 boost from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Scholarship Fund, one of 600 students nationwide to receive the award for the Class of 2026.
Dabbs, a recent graduate of Randall K. Cooper High School, is the son of Scott Dabbs, a UPS employee and member of Teamsters Local 100. The scholarship is open only to children or financial dependents of Teamster members planning to attend a four-year college, community college or trade school.
The NKY Tribune reported the award on Aug. 7.
At NKU, in-state undergraduates pay $5,856 per semester for a full-time course load in 2026-27, according to the university's tuition page. The $2,000 scholarship covers roughly a third of one semester's tuition and fees for a Kentucky resident.
The Teamsters Scholarship Fund launched three years ago and has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships nationally since then. The fund is financed entirely by Teamsters local unions, Joint Councils and member service providers. Employers are prohibited from contributing.
Teamsters Local 100, based in Cincinnati, represents more than 4,000 workers across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky in industries including delivery, logistics, warehousing and construction.
Two Union students were also recently selected for the NKY Chamber's 33rd Regional Youth Leadership class ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
