Boone County Attorney Jordan Dallas Turner received one of Kentucky's top honors for prosecutors on Aug. 21 when Attorney General Russell Coleman named her a 2026 Outstanding County Attorney at the Kentucky Prosecutors Conference in Lexington.

Turner was one of two county attorneys recognized at the three-day conference, which drew nearly 800 prosecutors, victims' advocates and staff from across the state. She is the first woman elected to the Boone County Attorney's office.

"Jordan Dallas Turner is a force multiplier who has helped victims across the Commonwealth and even the world," Coleman said in announcing the awards. "She has earned the respect and admiration of those she serves and those fortunate enough to call her a colleague and friend."

Turner won election in 2022. As county attorney, she serves as legal counsel to the Boone County Fiscal Court and has jurisdiction to prosecute misdemeanors and handle juvenile cases.

Before taking office locally, Turner served as an assistant commonwealth's attorney in Floyd County and as a special assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She has worked on human trafficking cases overseas, according to the attorney general's office.

Closer to home, Turner has pushed statewide school safety efforts. Her office website highlights Senate Bill 11, a Kentucky law signed by the governor that closed a loophole that could have allowed violent offenders in schools.

Turner's office did not respond to a request for comment by publication time.

Spencer County Attorney Corey Thomas shared the Outstanding County Attorney honor. Thomas, also elected in 2022, was recognized for taking on additional child support responsibilities to serve Kentucky families.

The conference's Lifetime Achievement Award went to Woodford County Attorney Alan George, who has served 45 years in the office and 46 overall as a prosecutor across eight terms.
