Boone County senior Jayden Ramler shot a 91 to finish 17th out of 99 golfers at the Karen Henderson Memorial Classic on Monday, Aug. 3, at The Willows course at Kenton County Golf Courses in Independence.

It was a strong showing in a stacked field.

The tournament drew roughly 20 schools from across Northern Kentucky, according to a preview from the Cincinnati Enquirer, including area programs Conner, Cooper, Ryle, Dixie Heights, Highlands, Campbell County, Beechwood, St. Henry, Villa Madonna, and Walton-Verona. Ramler's top-20 placement against that kind of competition gives the Rebels a measurable early-season benchmark heading into a busy August schedule.

Now in its second year, the tournament honors Karen Henderson, who coached Notre Dame Academy's girls golf program from 2009 until her death on Oct. 29, 2024, at age 69. Henderson also served as Notre Dame's assistant athletic director and coached with First Tee of Greater Cincinnati, introducing young players to the game. Under her leadership, the Pandas won eight straight regional titles. She was a fixture at World of Golf in Florence, the city-owned facility operated by Landrum Golf.

Boone County Athletics posted Ramler's result on X, noting her placement in the large field. Full tournament results, including the winner and team standings, have not been publicly released.

The KYGCA schedule shows the next area girls golf invitational is the Crosstown Classic on Friday, Aug. 7, at AJ Jolly Golf Course, followed by the Highlands Invitational on Aug. 22, at Pioneer at Kenton County. The state tournament first round for Regions 5–8 is set for Sept. 28, through Oct. 1, at Kenton County Golf Courses, with the state final round at Bowling Green Country Club from Oct. 8, through Oct. 10.
